Movie vs Drama (theatre)

I would like to say that I love watching movie very much. I enjoy watching horror, animation, comedy, action and thriller movies. But sometimes they cost me a lot.
But, what are the differences between movie and drama(theater)?.In movie, the actors are not performing live in front of the audience. Their performance is delayed. They only record into film. There are no audience while they are acting, except the director and the crews. Drama@theatre is performing live in front of the audience. There is no such thing as pauses in drama. While the actors are acting, they cannot stop until the end of the session even though there are some mistakes or the actor forgetting his lines. Computer graphic image (CGI) cannot be use in drama because it is live. I would like to say that the audience in movie sometimes being fooled by CGI. It may sound harsh but, this is reality.
The director in drama does nothing during the show. He cannot interrupt and tell anything to the actors. On the other hand, the movie director is totally dominant. He may stop whenever he wants.
Whatever the differences are, they both are part of arts. We as a human being should appreciate the beauty of the arts and enjoy them.

  1. Sometimes it could be nice if we change our routine... Trying to experience something that we never thought we will do (In this case, watching theater except of drama, movies or else)was a nice thing to do. At least we know the differences of these arts and learn to appreciate them.

  2. I agree with you that theatre has some differences compared to cinema (or movie), but for me, theatre and cinema also have the parallel resemblance beside the differences as both of it come from dissimilar period.

First and foremost, the whole process of theatre is very intricate and a lot of things need to be well thought-out. The conceptual of the theatre itself makes it special and unique from other genres such as cinema. On the other hand, cinema seems to be undeviating and direct, meaning that the message is easy to be acknowledged by the audience and also predictable whereas theatre need full absorption in order to get the message.

However, if we were to look at the likeness of these two genres, we could notice that both of it were meant to entertain. Theatre and cinema share the similar composition, encompassing the introduction (exposition), conflict, rising action, climax, falling action and the resolution. These are the common things that can be found in theatre and also in cinema. In term of characters, both theatre and cinema have the protagonist and the antagonist and also dynamic and flat characters.

Overall, I think that cinema and theatre have the similar aspects and they both have their share of differences as well.
